Swing-out radiator

Swing-out radiator
I've owned my '79 FC35 several years. I used it only once because I
don't want to risk a break down. So, she sat in storage for years.
Well, I took her out the other day. I fixed the "wandering" steering
problem (thnaks guys, it was loose bolts on the box). Now I am re-
motivated. I once asked about the swing-out radiator and was referred
to pictures in the archives. I cannot find them. Most recently, I re-
posted my question and all I got back was a couple of jokes about
swinging and radiators. While I appreciate the humor, no-one responded
seriously. I really really want to get my bird up to par. Can anyone
please help with some directions (pics would be wonderful). My work
eats most of my time and I have to make the best of what I can spend on
it. By the way, I install telephone systems and cabling of all sorts. I
am quite willing to trade for some work or equipment if anyone out
there is in Southern California. Heeelllpp!

Hey,
Please sign your posts with your name, yr/mdl bird & location. Thanks.

I'm in Anaheim, Ca. I have done a swing radiator. I have lots of
pictures and a document that I prepared. You are welcome to all of this.
Not sure about the trading thing??? Email me off site...

Swing-out radiator
Swing out radiator photos and details are in the FILES section, look
for SWING OUT RADIATOR. My unit came with this design and the two or so
times a year I need to get to the front of the engine, it is a godsend.

Do you have a swing radiator? If you're not sure, look at the bottom
of the bumper for two hinges, most swing-radiator modifications have
a pair of simple hinges on the bottom of the radiator, extended
lower and upper radiator hoses, and extended transmission cooling
lines to/from the radiator. It was a modification to FCs until BB
began installing them in '85.

The bumper bolts need to be removed, bumper swung down, center
grille panel removed, radiator mount bolts removed, then the
radiator will swing out. Watch fan/shroud clearance, you might have
to rotate the fan to clear the shroud and watch the hoses as you
open the radiator.

Good luck.
