Kurt,
There could be an idea brewing for us vintage coach people a vintage coach club for a fee we could get a dedicated service/parts assistance from the manufacturer.
Jim Riordan

Kurt Horvath wrote:
Does this have a crushing affect on anyone?

They don't have any parts that I've request the last 15 or 16 calls.

I've heard that there are some folks that like to stay at the nest
for extended times, Great, Good for them, they
should have to pay. If
you own any RV you can pay to camp.

I've been to the nest once, it's a great place, If you want to see
the last threads of the Bluebird Legacy better get there soon,.
Because it's in the SHADOW of it's former self, and may soon be
another fond memory

I don't understand why we can't realize that the Heydays are over.

None of the places, company's, industry's or organizations, do any of
the great, extra or special things they used to do.

Can you say ECONOMICS?

CCW is fighting to stay viable.

If you really want to help CCW,

I agree with Macy, BUY A NEW COACH!

CCW needs to turn around and keep their sights set on the future.
Honor the past and press forwards

I would love to own a 2009 or 10 or 11 All Stainless Steel Coach, if
that doesn't get you going then it's already too late.

I managed to buy an eleven year old coach. In 10 years I'll be
looking
at what they build now. By then it will be in my price range.
But that ain't going to happen unless people don't buy any new coaches

If CCW wants to support the Vintage owner I suggest that they focus
on tech support with as full and complete records that still exists
available to the public. If the costs are high then sell it like
Detroit Diesel does. Create a technology group to research the files
and record data in a usable form for example cross reference BB
numbers with OEM Mfg. Numbers, contact retired employees for that
sometimes obscure bit of inf. Create a department that will hunt down
the parts for a fee, or percentage of the cost. After all that's what
most of us wrench heads do now. In a while they would be making money
and parts would be cheaper and readily available .They would not have
to stock 20 year old parts when in all likelihood they could be drop
shipped from the manufacture

The Nest is
Wanderlodge Lore

Will it survive?

I don't know.

I do know the reality is it has no bearing on me or my coach good or
bad.

The Birds Nest.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have been in touch with the owners of the wanderlodge factory.
We can go in and use the birds nest now,but there has to ba a nightly charge.
The reason for this charge is because we have to provide an insurance
policy,liability only.

We will need some help on this,do we have a insurance person on the site?

Also,we are going to set up a governing "board",to represent us,the wanderlodge
owners, and to make rules and get it all set up and running.

I think we need a person from each of the Wanderlodge forums, and from the FMCA
chapters.

Thats one person from each group.

WOG would be Randy Dupree
Ernies site would be Ernie Ekberg
Family of Friends is Bill Kirchner
Vintage birds is Shane
A local rep would be John Stiles
And the last person I believ will be the Plant manager from the factory.

This group was hand picked by ME,with advice from lots of you!
The group was picked to set rules, and to try and keep the different groups all
advised and in agreement.

Things we will have to do is provide :
Insurance
Lawn care
Housekeeping

We are trying to work with the owner of the factory to use the same people hes
using for those things,so we don't have an overlap in service, and we may get
better pricing that way.

There will be a time limit on how long you can stay.
There will be a nightly charge
You will have to cleanup after yourself.
The board will reserve the right to ask anyone to leave.

This is the first post of what i'm sure will be a long thread,so lets keep it
friendly,and productive.

We will be charging $20 per night at first.
We will accept donations from anyone that wants to donate money so we can
re-carpet and clean up the club house.

This is going to be the wanderlodge Country Club, its up to us to make it or
close it.

Ernie, I guess I missed something yesterday......what is your connection to the old plant that was sold,I don't understand the connections here. Why would someone buy the property and then let us use the Nest AND regulate the rules and regulations. You want to add for those of us that think this is coming from left field.

To catch up on what's been going on at "The Factory", read up WOG, plenty of info there. Ernie is just passing it along here.

Here's a good start:
http://www.wanderlodgeownersgroup.com/fo...y.php?f=65

Bottom line, there is a new owner of the property where the "Nest" is located, and he is allowing it to still be used as a campground, but its not just a free for all, there need to be some rules put in place.

It seems that Randy Dupree and the new owner of the property had some business dealing in the past. Recently, the new owner said he would like the property to be used instead of just sitting. He mentioned to randy that he would like him to see what he could do about that. He asked me a while ago if I wanted to be involved and I said yes.
So, we will see what transpires. I know that there won't be any management fees given to me, for sure.

Just out of curiosity, why do you exclude one particular Wanderlodge owners
forum from your list of "one person from each group"? It seems to me that if you
really wanted to work on a project for all Wanderlodge owners, you should
include all. I would think that, with the demise of the factory, every effort
should be made to keep all Wanderlodge owners together, not exclude some and
"invite" others.

That being said, I personally have to ask myself; "who would want to go anywhere
near Fort Valley, GA without the Wanderlodge factory being there?" This area is
about as exciting as watching paint dry. Don't take this wrong as I have used
the Birds Nest on several occasions over 20 years of Wanderlodge ownership. It
is a nice place to overnight and visit with other Bird owners. However, every
time it was for a day or so to have work done at the factory. There is, IMO, no
other reason to go there. As far as meeting up with other Wanderlodge owners,
that is what rallies are for. These events range from simple gatherings of a few
owners to large events such as just held in Tennessee. Great fun and they can be
held anywhere and don't need the defunct Birds Nest. Just my opinion, I'm sure
others will vary.
