SHARP MICROWAVE/CONVECTION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED!!!!!
Howdy.
Our Sharp M/C oven(a R-1870) is kaput. The cost of repairing it will almost be the cost of a new oven. <sigh>
Please
give your recommendations for a replacement oven. I am tired of seeing
the hole in the cabinet where the kaput oven used to be located.

TIA,

SHARP MICROWAVE/CONVECTION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED!!!!!
Liz ...what are the symptoms of the oven being kaput...I thought mine had failed but I only needed to replace the internal fuse..mine was a sharp also in a 1991 WBWL...If you look where the power cord goes into the back of the cabinet there is a 15 amp micowave fuse there and it is easy to replace. I found the fuse at a local appliance store Jim Barone

I wish that the fix would be so easy but that is not the case. The
turntable motor needs to be replaced and the control board is dead.

SHARP MICROWAVE/CONVECTION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED!!!!!
Liz,
We thought our microwave had failed a couple of months ago, so I went online to look for theSharp R930AK that was in our 1989 coach. We found it online for Home Depot for under $400 delivered to the Home Depot closest to you. Hope this helps. By the way ours was also a fuse so we haven;t replaced ours either.

I wonder if the new model microwave convection ovens are quieter than the older
units? Mine is pretty noisy without the exhaust fan and it doesn't get any
quieter when I run that fan.

Is everybody's M/W dying at the same time? Just replaced mine (KitchenAid) with
a GE(no convection) really neat with nice electronic key-pad function. Runs
quiet and cool and in stainless steel, looks good in the coach. got it on sale
at Lowes.
