i can't help with your problems, as my 83 pt40 is not the same, as it
has basement air, and different hook-ups,,, but i did want to offer you my
sympathy, and say glad you are alright.,,,as i hit a deer last month,, just
grazed him,, a big buck,,, but found out how good it was to have that big solid
bumper across the front of this old bird !! i just knew the front end was wiped
out, but almost no damage !!
glad you were not hurt,,,,, you never know how bad it could have
been,,,,

Hi Sid, Glad to hear you are getting to know your bird. Sorry about the
dammage. I would suggest you check the DOT code on ALL of your tires if you
haven't already. If your tires are older then 7 years, I would replace them.
These tires of our's are made to run 100,000+ miles but only have a life of
around 7 years before they start to deteriorate. I have a rotation going with
mine. Newest on the steering next on the duels and then the tags. My
steering go to the tags and the duels get changed by them selves. About the
shrouds, I don't know where you can find the parts but give BB a call and they
might be able to direct you to some. You probably have gone up and checked the
others. Mine were lose also but I caught them before loosing them. I did
find that the sheetmetal screws were stripped. I tapped down the holes with a
ball-peen hammer and went to the next larget screw. that seems to have done
the trick.
Hope you find the parts quickly. I'm still trying to get my basement
repaired from the gen. muffler being shuved up into it. The insurance is
moving
forward slowly, but moving.

Good luck again,

We are back from a 3500 mile trip. Coach worked fine for the most
part. I am learning a lot about these birds. Two things happened and
I need advice. I will check out the database, but wanted to get the
groups advice.
1. We had our left tag tire blow. It damaged the shore power box.
All hookups seem to work, but the lock disappeared and the door will
not close. The compartment is pretty banged up. Anyone know of a
place for a salvage or new one?
2. We went thru a severe wind storm in Wyoming. The shrouds for the
middle ac and dash ac blew off. I was able to get a new shroud for
the middle ac, but wondered about something for the front/dash ac. I
does not work and I notice some have removed them. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Welcome back Sid, and sorry to hear about your damage.

The service entrance box is available as one piece: door and box are
welded to the hinge, I've had the door welded/repaired in the past and
it is much less work (hours = $$) to repair in most cases and locks are
easily available.

The dash A/C shroud might still be available from BB, I saw a new one
at HMH in Holland just before last RIV, Ken told me that he had
recently ordered it for a customer.
