Jack,

I sure feel your pain, but to a lesser extent. That sure makes our $3.39 per gal fill up a couple of hours ago seem like a deal. Unfortunately, it was 226 gallons for an even $900.00!! You made me feel a little better. If I had your prices, it would have been $200 more. So I consider it a relative "investment", since I heard a news cast on the way home from the LSB rally today that said a barrel of petroleum was up 6% today to $91 + change per barrel and $100 is likely within a week with $4/gal unleaded. So diesel will be much worse. Looks like you California folks are leading the field once again! Interesting since there is still an oversupply on the market. All market manipulation due to the news and a weak dollar that petro is denominated in on world markets. Just what we need to
pulverize our weak economy per the industry analyst doing the report.

On better news. my MPG was close to 6 MPG. My best long run MPG yet. Turns out that going 65 on cruise for a lot of that 1300+ miles does help!!! For those doing the math, I did have over 50 hours of gen set usage during that time.

Since Ernie just admitted to speeding;(limit forRV towing is 55 in California) he should make a contribution toMike's fillup. Having a good team of mules and a stout wagon may become more fashionable as the mid-east flames.İmage

For perspective, even though typical prices might get there in just a few days,
that is not a typical price for So Cal.

Gasbuddy.com actually lists a station in West Covina with unleaded at $4.51, but
there are a ton of SoCal stations listed at $3.39, including all the Costcos.

Up in Eureka where I am we typically have some of the highest prices in the
state (only places like Death Valley tend to run higher), and Costco is $3.56
with most others at $3.79. All of the "regular stations" are owned by one or the
other of the two distributors locally, and rarely vary from each other by even a
penny.

Stay out of the SF Bay Area. This weekend it will probably hit $4/gal and we have four or 5 refineries in the area. Say are the 'birds' with tag axles fully functional??? ....in other words do the tag axles have brakes or are they just a load carrying unit????
