Air leak help needed
Not sure what the part is that the air is leaking from but hopefully
someone here does. Under the front left corner near the steering gearbox is a black flat "device" with 4 air/vacum line connections. There is a fifth nipple that is constantly evacuating air. The rear suspension drops when I shutdown the main engine. Sometimes the front suspension also drops and one time the air brake system pressure drain and the suspension remain inflated. I am guessing the black unit is a diaphram for pressure balancing but not sure. Anyone know what this is and where I can get a replacement? Troy, Waconia MN 83FC33 |

Its the valve for your cruise control. I would check all of the connections
on the top of the engine where the cruise control is located. tom 1982 FC35 Vernon Center,NY At 02:08 PM 7/15/2005 +0000, you wrote: >Not sure what the part is that the air is leaking from but hopefully >someone here does. Thanks, that figures because I was troubleshooting the cruise last
week and pulled the power wire from the harness, so I ran a power wire directly to the red power wire that leads to the switch. Could it be the power wire in the harness split inside the harness and now I am missing the power to a componenet? The wire harness is inside the tube that leads from beneath the steering wheel and is VERY tight. I had to pull hard to access the wires from either side. Its possible. But I would still carefully check the air lines into and out
of your cruise control module near the back of the doghouse. tom 1982 FC35 Vernon Center,NY At 05:47 PM 7/15/2005 +0000, you wrote: >Thanks, that figures because I was troubleshooting the cruise last >week and pulled the power wire from the harness, so I ran a power wire >directly to the red power wire that leads to the switch. On my 82 the device you describe is the vacuum generator for the cruise
control. If you have a vacuum leak it will discharge air all the time whiled it tries to build the vacuum back up. Air leak help needed
Ours hisses from time to time after it is shut down, don't know why but
it only does it for a few seconds at a time. When people ask me what is that I tell them it is alive and it thinks your standing to close! I checked all the vacuum lines from the brake peddle to the engine and they all seem OK, does seem to drain the air from the tank for the step, generator tray and steering wheel. The device is what is known as a jet pump and is used to create vacume for the
cruse control and other automotive devices that require vacume. The device is preset to shut of at around 15" vac. If you have a vacume leak it will continue to run (blow air out). One line should go the vacume tank and the others to devices requireing vac. Cap off lines till the air stopes blowing and that line should be the trouble. Does my 77FC31 have this device? It leaks air and you can hear it in
the front. My cruise lights up and makes noise but doesnt work. Thanks. Air leak help needed
JB; My 77 came with an electric vacume pump and I updated to the jet pump many
years ago. I jet pump will cut off when the vac reaches 15" and the air will stop coming out till the next cycle. If there is a vac. leak the pump will continue to blow air. Byrne 77fc35 bascom1968 air and you can hear it in the front. My cruise lights up and makes noise but doesnt work. Thanks.
