Ralph can do an inspection. the rear bath is larger then on the side bath
coaches. The only drawback- you have twin beds- which isn't all that bad.
Ernie-83pt40 in Texas- all prepped for coach surgery Tuesday

Hi all-
I am looking at a 85 FC '35 that looks to be in good shape but needs
the following repairs/maintenance. I would like to know what it would
cost for the following so I can figure it into the price.

It has a recent oil change/lube and oil analysis
which showed normal. The tires are 5-6 years old and should be
replaced before a trip but are ok to drive local. The oil needs to be
changed in the front wheel bearings. The refrigerator and head have
already been replaced with newer models. The retarder is not working
and the leveling system is not working but both can be fixed. Two
roof ac's need covers. Power steering pump has a leak.

Thanks
Mike

tires 250- 600 each dependent on brand rating plus installation
air conditioning covers around 100 each plus installation
ps pump 300-600 for low end for rebuilt high end for new plus
installation
Retarder any idea why it is not working maybe just a loose wire but
trouble shooting time is involved
front wheel bearings probably get charged 2 hours at your local
neighbourhood truck or bus mechanic any where from 60 to 125 an hour
for labour
Levelors same deal truoble shoot and fix parts extra

No +, no - for the engine oil change/lube, head and refer.

New tires: Toyos: $2,400 mounted, new stems, balanced. Add a hundred $$$
each for the Michelin.

Leveling System: Is it an HWH system? If you are close to Moscow Iowa,
the HWH factory, take it there. The labor is cheap...compared to So
Calif. it's about half. Order parts from HWH.

AC Covers: Not sure you can find them. Check with Camping World. Someone
on the forum will make comment.

Front Wheel Bearing Oil Change: Needed? Not sure about the cost. I'd
guess less than two hours labor plus seals/oil.

Retarder: Check for wiring problem, maybe ground, before taking it to a
shop.

1985 Wanderlodge FC 35' Rear Bath model Original Blue and Cream
exterior paint. Blue interior. Six new deep cycle coach batteries.
12.5KW generator runs good has new battery. New Xantrex computerized
attery charger. Three roof ac's, one roof pod, awnings all around,
rediline generator, lots of panels, gauges, and switches. This is a
good running coach that may need a little fixing up and interior work
but could be used as it is. Located in Jackson, MS.

Hey,

This sounds like routine maintenance, It also sounds like it is
worth the trouble and expense. The covers may not be available, but
something could be made to fit. I will guess at $4 to 5K now and
$5k more over the next year for the stuff that you do not know about
yet. Have someone check it out, So there are no big surprizes.

Hi Mike:

The '85 FC is a good coach.

Need to check the power to the master switch for the HWH jacks. That switch
enables the solenoid that is located to the front of the entry step under
the coach.

There are fuses (or at least there was in my '85FC) for the drive line
retarder located in the main control box located just above the retarder
proper. Also need to check the power from the retarder switch. Seems like
both power enables to those switches go through "C" plug under the dash
then on to the cb's and conversely to the enable solenoids. Those cb's are
located behind the drivers front head light.

Power steering pump I had rebuilt, not sure but in the neighborhood of
95.00. Ah, also check the bolts to the steering box and tighten them, bet a
nickle they are lose as well.

The ac covers, depends on what brand,, probably Brisk airs. Some are still
available.

I had some of those ok to drive local tires, then promptly had 2 blow outs.
Tires are expensive but in the long run, cheap insurance, because these
tires can take out wheel wells.

Good luck with her. If I can help let me know.

Safe travels,

Thanks everyone. (I don't know anything about these things)

Looks like it is safe to assume 5k in after purchase
tires/maintenance.

1. Who does inspections in the midwest?

2. It also it has rear bath. Is that a positive/negative or moot
point?
