I cannot get the chassis heat to work in my FCRB. The water is
circulating to the back, as it heats the hot water heater as it should,
but I cannot get water to flow into any of the heat exchangers. I also
cannot make the fans blow. I have followed the instructions in the
manual (winter/summer switch to winter, chassis heat thermostat on) but
no luck. My auxillary pump works, this doesn't help either.

Any pointers? Do the chassis heat fans have an override that keeps
them from blowing if there is no heat in the heat exchanger? Where is
the valve that the winter/summer switch operates?

Is the chassis heat thermostat working? Access the heater cores and verify
there is no heat to them. The key needs to be on for the chassis heat to work,
verify the sporlan valve behind the curbside headlight is functioning. You
might be swinging that drivers side front panel, checking them circuit breakers.
I have gotten pretty familar with that area of my bus. Too many crimp
connectors and not enough relays.

If your coach is similar to mine you will find two sporlan valves near the
hot water heater both of these operate when you switch to "winter". You
also must have the engine up to operating temperature to get the engine
thermostat to open before you can get any heat at the chassis heaters.

I agree with Ernie, it appears that the electrically
operated "sporlan" valves that diverts water either through the water-
heater and then return to the engine, or throught the water-heater
and then the chassis heaters are not operating.

Most likely this is an electrical issue. It can be a bad circuit-
breaker, not sure which ones in an '82 RB, could also be the
winter/summer switch or its wiring to the dash, you'll need to do
some chasing on this.

If the chassis heaters are actually getting warm water but not
blowing (slide the sofa out and feel the top of the heater after the
engine is good and warm) then it is probably either the circuit-
breaker or the thermostat, both of which I've seen go bad many times.
The summer/winter switch on the dash is common to both the heat
exchanger flow and the blowers.

keep me in the loop on this as my 81FCrb is the same and not working
i have problems with the switchs by the driver and have not run it
down yet
they have something to do with it according to the wirng dia.
