LED Marker Lights
I would like to have LED marker lights on my FC, but I really like the
look of the stock "flush mount" light units, so I am not interested in changing out to the commonly seen surface-mount units. So, my questions: 1) Has anyone found an LED bulb that is a replacement for the standard bulb and fits in the original socket? 2) Is there a replacement LED unit out there that is a flush mount like the original ones? I can't find either of these. Thanks Scott Forman 'Tiger Pride' 82 FC35RB Memphis |

You might try http://www.superbrightleds.com they have led replacement bulbs, marker
lights, etc. R.W.Webb Cedar Rapids, IA 91 WBWL --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Scott Forman" <sforman@r...> wrote: > > I would like to have LED marker lights on my FC, but I really like the > look of the stock "flush mount" light units, so I am not interested in > changing out to the commonly seen surface-mount units. Try super bright leds and look through the whole list. Be sure to
check polarity on your bulbs. leds must be polarity correct. Changed out all the bulbs on my coach. their site is superbrightleds dot com. Greg |

I think the problem with replacing the bulbs in the pre-'88? clearance lamps
with leds is the bulb needs to have right angle leds to work. Didn't see them at superbrightleds. Scott Peatross '87 PT40 pbe43 Try super bright leds and look through the whole list. Hi all,
Saw the post about LED lights and am fresh from Parliament Club rally (with mostly current BB owners, and many former BB folks) where we heard both Parliament repair techs and Ft. Valley seminar folks respond to customer LED light issues. Both tech groups caused lots of eyes to pop open when they discussed problems with LED lights being very sensitive to voltage fluctuations and transients, and the how they are working/experimenting to see what can be done to solve the apparent problems. I don't have enough understanding to discuss the retrofit matter one way or the other; however, as I don't recall reading anything about the issue here among Forum members, I'm passing on the caveat for whatever it may be worth. John at last the motorhome industry is being awakened to the
problems in installing LEDs in motorhomes and in fact anywhere. Each LED has a specification as to the voltage and current needed to fire the LED. What everyone didnt consider is the fact that the voltage cant fluctuate very much for instance connected directly to a turn signal light. The voltage fluctuations of off and on, significantly reduces the life of the LED. Here is a very good explanation of the problems. leds are built to work in a very narrow voltage range
too high a voltage and there is greatly diminished product life too low a voltage and they will not light there is a sawoff between there two levels. If a driver is used to allow operation at a higher voltage then the low voltage cutoff rises inversely if the low voltage level is droppped then the high voltage level drops also. Unfortunately LEDs work best with a constant defined voltage ie. 12 volts exactly and that is something that is rarely available in an Automotive application and also there must be some amount of igniton protection. Now this not to say that LEDs are not suitable for automotive use and there are many millions of LEDs installed in cars, trucks, buses and the like. A quality bulb must be purchased and this equates to higher cost . The very last sentence of your post sounded to me like you were going to add a reference, or website, which would expand on your points; however, nothing came through. Did I misinterpret?? No apology necessary, Tom, and your URL addition
should be "required reading" for all Forum members contemplating the LED change, especially the "devil in the details" issues of current regulation (of which voltage fluctuation is the counterpart) and air circulation. As I previously stated, many of us in attendance when the techs were discussing the complaints, were in shock when we heard the considerable details they still are working to resolve. Such cavalier statements as, "you could add resistors in parallel" and "well, you know the inverters tend to put out square wave D.C." and "there are some voltage transient issues among the house battery 4/0 wiring leads giving us fits" led this old builder/repairer of T.V.'s and Ham radios to think there may be some issues I need to see resolved before I consider... So I'm-a-gonna watch some other body be the test pilot for retrofits; volunteers take one step forward, take the point, and report back on all enemy fire.
