David,
Don't let someone on this forum sway you away from the BMC line of BlueBird Coaches. I would agree that this was Bluebird attempt for entry level birds and the fact that the unit is located on a spartan chassis. But as Paul Harvey would say, let me tell you the rest of the story. 1) This is a Bluebird coach manufactured to Bluebird quality and control. 2) For the same money you have to spend, you will get a bird that is 5 - 6 years newer. 3) Some say that the Spartan chassis will have more shops that will service it than the Bluebird Chassis. 4) The BMC is powered by a Cummings engine achieving 8 mpg consistantly. The wanderlodges will be in the 5 - 6 mpg range 5) A bird 5 - 6 years newer will have newer updates. 6) A bird 5 - 6 years newer will have less problems with equipment because the equipment is newer. 7) On the 37' model, we don't have a tag axle so 2 less tires to replace 8) On the 37' model, we have no problem getting into State Parks which usually are laden with tight spots. 9) If you look long enough you will find the right bird for you. Here are some of the equipment on our BMC: Goat Rail on Roof Wanderlodge Dash Whitewashed wood L coach & sleeper coach Full-size refrigerator Aquaheat Heater Ice Maker Spot Light Water Filter In summary, we looked at FC, PT, SP and finally BMC. To us it was not a money issue, but more of a preference of what we get for what we paid. We felt that the PT where very nice but where way too long to get into State Parks and way too dark for our preference. We liked the SP model but again the insides were dated on most models. Then we run into the BMC and fell head over heals. We looked at several. After finally coming up with what we wanted, I posted to this forum Oct. 2004. An owner in California responded and said I got the bird you decribe. Two weeks later, we flew out to California and did an inspection and wired the money. This owner took very good care of the unit. Had the rear axle replaced to make sure the weight issue on the BMC was right. You need to make sure on the BMC that the rear axle has been replaced due to a Bluebird recall. We have 2 teenage boys and the four of us are very confortable. We can get 2 - 3 days on our tanks with four of us camping in the unit. The BMC line is Bluebird's Best kept secret. Loving it.
