Correct Coach Battery Wiring
Hello all-
I did verify-- My charger does work-- but only when I start my Gen... Not sure, when plugged up to 30A at the house, does not charge.. Maybe because not 50A? -- I think Im going to look into what Bruce was talking about with the Xantrex... however- I need to make sure that my coach batterys are hooked up correctly in "series-parallel" as the manual says. Does anyone have a diagram or drawing of the correct hookup of these Four 6 Volt Batteries? I understand the series hookup to make the 2 6 volts to 12 Volts, and the parallel to make the 2-12's double capacity... Three wires are 3 GROUND connections to the bus frame, 2 POSITIVE going to another part of the frame(a terminal block it looks like) and 1 thick Positive running back to the Center/rear along the frame (maybe to the charger?) and 1 smaller red one running to under the couch to the terminal under there. Then there is a small silver-receptical looking box beside; mounted on the wall with 4 wires running out, all taped together, they are all cracked, and hard (got hot?) maybe that is (or was) the battery heater I was thinking that maybe one of my charging/ battery problems was the way the previous owner had this rats nest of battteries connected up. Any help would be appriciated. Thank you. Stephen 81 FC-33SB Plant City,Fl |

Correct Coach Battery Wiring
Not to get into the '81 battery wiring right now, ... but a couple of
things: The boxes/taped wires are for the battery heaters. The chargers are powered when running on genset, but not on shore power? Sounds like either your shore cord or your transfer switch is not powering half of the coach. Check power at all circuits and at the two mains in the breaker panel, check for two hot and one neutral in the coach-end of your power cord. For a temporary fix, open the charger bay, plug the chargers directly into your house power. Based on the symptoms mentioned here it doesn't sound like the battery wiring is a problem. - Jeff Miller in Holland, MI --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Stephen" <share@...> wrote: > > Hello all- > I did verify-- My charger does work-- but only when I start my > Gen... Correct Coach Battery Wiring
Hi Stephen,
If you need assistance, a very good source is Chris Bryant at Bryant RV in Deland, FL. I have met him and he is very knowledgeable. It might be worth a short trip over to see him. Tell him I said hello. Correct Coach Battery Wiring
Stephen, follow a frame ground to one 6 volt battery, the + side of
that battery, should run to the - side of another 6 volt battery. This is a series of two sixes which produces 12 volts. The amp rating of both batteries should be the same because the amp rating of a series is = to the lowest rating of the two batteries. "a series of two sixes" = "one 12 volt battery" two series can be tied in parallel to increase the amp hours. two "twelve volt battery" or two "series of two sixes" can be hooked up just as if they were the only battery. parallel does not increase voltage Greg --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Stephen" <share@...> wrote: > > Hello all- > I did verify-- My charger does work-- but only when I start my > Gen... Correct Coach Battery Wiring
Hi Stephen,
How far is Plant City from West Palm Bch? I have some experience with batteries and inverters and can help look at what you have. If you want to take a drive over, I'll be glad to help. Correct Coach Battery Wiring
Craig- Thank you for the offer. Its around 3 hours. 180 Miles. I have all
the batteries out of the coach, and cleaning up the battery tray, ect.. So I wont be going anywhere for awhile.. _____ From: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com [mailto:WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of casmith Sent: Friday, February 24, 2006 6:54 PM To: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com Subject: [WanderlodgeForum] Re: Correct Coach Battery Wiring Hi Stephen, How far is Plant City from West Palm Bch?
