Why don't you find a speaker repair shop and have it re-built. The
original speakers were very good speakers. I had some done 5 or 6 years ago. R.E. Thanks Ron, I didn't know you could have them rebuilt. I'll check the phone
book. Actually rebuilding the speakers yourself is now quite easy. You can
buy foam surrounds for the speakers that will make them as good as new if the cones are still alright and most of them are. You can buy the kits for different size speakers at many places on the internet. .http://www.speakermedic.com/ tom warner 1982 FC35 Vernon Center,NY At 08:27 PM 3/11/2006, you wrote: >Why don't you find a speaker repair shop and have it re-built. If the front speakers in your SP36 are like my
'87PT40, Bluebird blew it on the design. On mine, the speakers sit behind a metal mesh that goes the width of the front overhead. The problem is that the rear of the speaker isn't isolated, you hear the front of the speaker and the back. That's a huge no-no in audio design. The sound waves tend to cancel each other out, particularly the bass frequencies. It is worth your time to install speakers in small cabinets behind the grill, the sound difference is amazing. Scott Peatross '87 PT40 --- Lawrence Thornell My speakers in the front overhead are gone. Any suggestions on what speaker to buy? |

I'm going to attempt to rebuild the speakers myself with a kit from the Speaker Place in Rochester, NY. I kinda have a tin ear so hearing from front and back of the speaker hasn't phased me.
