how do you know if the antenna is rotating when you turn the wheel?
-------------- Original message from putneyflash@...: -------------- Thanks Tom: am i to understand you repaired the silver box.? when you installed the TV on the dog house do you use the TV connector on the floor by the co-pilot. where is your back up monitor??i was thinking of installing it in place of the orginal TVscreen. Thanks again for responding. -------------- Original message from Tom Warner -------------- "The silver box" is part of the electronics for the Cathode Ray tube mounted over the front of the driver. PMMI took apart a TV set and put part of it in the "Silver Box" and part in the overhead in front of the driver. I installed a new one and i know it rotates with the hand held control because
like you say the picture gets better or worse, when i turn the wheel so far i haven't seen any change. i didn't have the hand control hooked up when i moved the wheel, it will work like it is i am one of those guys who likes things to work like it was disigned to even if its old tecnology. Thanks for responding re brake -------------- Original message from krminyl@...: -------------- Not a real scientific answer, but I believe mine is turning because the signal (picture) gets better (or worse) as you hold down the "rotate" rocker switch. I would guess that if your TV picture never changes (try different channels), the element inside the dome isn't rotating like it is supposed to. I guess you could take the darn thing apart, and look inside the dome while someone works the switch. Have fun...I hear that the antennas are still available. Check the archives. Yes I have the diagrams and information for the "silver box" and have
repaired it. The monitor is overhead of the driver in its original location. Now that I have the 85 PT40 I intend to put a new system in it consisting of two LCD screens (one for the driver and one for the passenger) with the appropriate electronics for a GPS system as well as a back up monitor. tom warner 1982 FC35 1985 PT40 At 09:02 PM 3/13/2006, you wrote: >Thanks Tom: am i to understand you repaired the silver box.? when >you installed the TV on the dog house do you use the TV connector on >the floor by the co-pilot. where is your back up monitor??i was >thinking of installing it in place of the orginal TVscreen. I actually built a nice Cherry mounting pod to anchor the TV in that
takes the place of the old "thing" (dont know what to call it) that was mounted on the doghouse originally. It works very well and the TV works as it was intended for the last 2 years. tom warner 1982 FC35 1985 PT40 At 09:23 PM 3/13/2006, you wrote: >Years ago, when we had our 84 35fC, we set a color tv on the doghouse. >Something happened to the color in that set.Is there any electrical >field that may >have interfered with the color on that tv- or was it the tv's time to go >south? I pulled the 'silver box' and the picture tube out of my coach. If
anyone would like it, ask and its yours. I mounted a 5.6" color LCD in place of the interior rear view mirror and connected that to the rear-view camera full time. In place of the TV tuner control panel, I mounted the remote panel for my Xantrex inverter/charger. The original stereo equipment that was next to the TV is no more, a fellow listee has it. My current head-end unit is in the center dash next to the CB Radio, the system amplifier(s) are mounted where the old system once was and tie into the existing speaker wiring at that point. I'll try to post some photos soon. If the picture tube still works, I could use it. Mine died shortly
after I bought the coach last year. I'm guessing it is probably the same size/model as in my 83. I'll gladly pay the shipping charge. Tom,
Let me know how that works out, I'm thinking of doing the same thing on mine. I hear 'sparking' Noises coming from the "silver Box" when I plug the fuse in (no wonder the fuse was missing)-So I was thinking of doing the same thing as you-Upgrade to LCD- and get a color backup camera for the rear. I 'wandered' also, could I use the same camera cable that exists? Or would I have to run another :-~ Stephen 81 FC-33SB Plant City, FL _____ From: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com [mailto:WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Tom Warner Sent: Wednesday, March 22, 2006 9:58 AM To: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [WanderlodgeForum] Television Yes I have the diagrams and information for the "silver box" and have repaired it. I might be interested in them.. I live In Plant City-not too far.. I could
use them until I can get my new LCD system up and running! Let me know. Would love to see pics when they are avail.. (or better yet, If I get the monitor- I can see the coach in person!) Stephen --Twin coach to yours- 81 FC-33SB Plant City, Fl _____ From: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com [mailto:WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Tim Hannink Sent: Wednesday, March 22, 2006 12:28 PM To: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com Subject: [WanderlodgeForum] Re: Television I pulled the 'silver box' and the picture tube out of my coach. If anyone would like it, ask and its yours. Stephen, if you are local why don't you take the monitor. I'm
leaning towards replacing the whole works with a LCD monitor and new camera anyway. I have been looking at rvcams.com, anyone use them before or have a suggestion on where to get a system?
