VIP Steering Wheel Recall
Today I received a letter from VIP regarding a need for a recall
inspection on my aftermarket steering wheel. Some of the wheels may have been built improperly. Inspection involves pulling the horn button and looking at the three collars (riv-nut looking things) inside the hub of the wheel. The bolts from the backside should protrude through the collars and be at least flush. If not, the bolts used were too short and will result in the steering wheel needing to be exchanged for a new one. The recall affects all aftermarket wheels on Prevosts, MCI's from 1986, and Freightliners 1989 to 2005. I haven't yet looked at my wheel so I don't know the process for exchange (and hopefully won't). I will scan my letter and diagrams and send them to Bruce for his forum, don't quite know how to post them here but perhaps Bruce or Jeff will. Gary Miller 83 FC 33 Milwaukee area |
