24 Volt
Perhaps I can help on this. On our converted coach, I built it so that I
could run one A/C from the inverter WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. IOW, while going down the road. There was no way that I could install a battery bank large enough to run an A/C for very long. I had a 2500 watt inverter at that time. I found that I could run the A/C for about 30 minutes before it would overheat and shut down or pop the C/B. As for 24 VDC systems: We have friends who converted buses with 24 VDC systems and some kept the 24 VDC system and purchased the 24 VDC inverters. Others converted to 12 Volt systems. Those with dual systems mostly said that they would not do it again. 24V equipment is hard to find and expensive. Most of us have found that running the generator for A/C is the best overall method. After all, the generator needs to be used. The biggest problems with generators comes from lack of use. You might be able to for a short time; What's the draw? what's the start up surge draw?
