24 Volt
The calc for amps at 110 volts to amps at 12 volts-
say 15 amps at 110V = 15 x 110 = 1,650 watts 1,650 watts divied by 12volts = 137.5 amps(at 12V) because inverters are, at best, about 92% efficient, ya need to divide the 137.5amps by 92% efficiency, you'll get 149.5 amps (at 12V) to run a 15 amp/110V load. Fortunately, the roof tops only draw about 12.5 amps at 110V, so- 12.5 x 110 = 1,375watts divided by 12V = 114.6amps divied by 92% efficiency = 124.5 amps at 12V Throw in a bit of curve now. My alternator is actually 14 volts, so the equation looks like this: 12.5 x 110 = 1,375watts divided by 14V = 98.2amps divided by 92% efficientcy = 106.75 amps at 14V to run my front A/C. Pretty easy for the 14volt/320amp alternator. Plus the inverter likes to have plenty of voltage/amperage to convert to 110V, makes it work not so hard ;~} Jay Darst 85PT40 Springfield, IL --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Chuck Wheeler" > > Just remember that to provide 15amps at 24 volts will require your generator > to provide about 83 amps at 24 volts or about 170 amps at 12 volts in > addition to the load it is currently carrying. > > - Chuck Wheeler - > 82 FC 31 SB > Fort Worth, TX > > -----Original Message----- > From: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com > [mailto:WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of putneyflash@... > Sent: Sunday, April 16, 2006 7:52 PM > To: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com > Subject: Re: [WanderlodgeForum] 24 Volt > > > Blair: could you run the fron ta/c off the inverter by tapping into the > correct leg? seems that would work better than having the dash a/c repaired > and converted from 12 to 134 > > re brake FC-35SB albany, ga.
