Do Not Shift light

I had the Do not Shift light come on with a buzzer but it went out
before I had a chance to exit the freeway. Last month I sent the bus to
a DD / Allison shop to have the codes read and have an expert do the
trans service , drop the pan, cut the filter, check the retarder, do a
road test. I was told; "the codes get erased when the bus is shifted
into reverse therefor , no codes" "The trans does not have a
retarder" "The oil and filters looked good" "will that be debit or
Credit" I am not convinced the $100+ per the hour tec gave me my
$500.00 worth or info and service. I want to find time and visit
another shop and see if they think the codes are stored.
