Alternator quit
Bill I didn't get the parts no off the Alternator before we put it in . I
should have for my own records but didn't. The no on the box it came in is 8LHA2070VE & the no on a instalation sheet inside the box is 8LHA 8LHP. I think they are the same. It is a 160 amp & seems to be working good so far. I got it at a Freightliner Truck shop in Ocala, FL It was $155.00 which was about the same as a Delco Remy. Randy called & got the price but he said he didn't get any better price that anyone else. It was suppose to be $300.00 But Randy said they buy in volume & get a better price. I was quoted $385.00 at a alternator shop for one. I don't know what the difference was. I didn't have to change anything It is a J180 mount It had a Red Positive wire out to the batteries & a black negative out to ground on the engine. You might have to press the pulley off the old one as they don't come with one. You will have to Torque it back to 40 to 50 ft. lbs. with the nut supplied with the alternator. If yours is a Motorola it is a good core so it might be rebuild able. But if you can get one for the price I did & it is good it doesn't pay to rebuild them. I'll take a chance on it as long as I have a good Genny. My old one had three bolt holes one the top & the new one only has one. That's probably more than you wanted to know /////////// Don 89 SP 36' Back in Butler, PA Don, what is the part no. and amp rating, and approximate cost of unit? Did you have to change anything? I went to a bus forum and they had nos. for school buses, are they the same? Will the pulley fit? More questions than you want? Thanks, Bill, 90 SP 36, Conway AR. --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, dspithaler@... wrote: > > > Bill I had my Motorola rebuilt two years ago & less than 20,000 miles on > it.
