Aftermarket Oil Filters

Hi Bruce,

A number of years ago, I was in the lubrication business. In the course of
my training, I found that Wix was one of the best filters made. They also
make the NAPA filters. The poorest were the Fram which are advertised the
most and carried by most low cost parts houses. The rest fall in-between.
Baldwin used to have a good reputation but things may have changed.

We have always used Hastings/Baldwin(same filter different box) on all
our cars,trucks, forklifts and tractors. However lately I have been
rethinking this practice after reading on the Cummins site about them
not meeting the Cummins standard. I WAS planning on using them on our
BB. What filters do you use on your BB and why? Are the OEM Cat filters
priced competitively? I did find a source on the net for Wix at an
awesome price( Filter1). These are the same as NAPA Gold. I have no
experience with Wix but did sell them when I was a parts mgr. many
years ago. I remember that the line was very comprehensive and they had
good catalogues.
