Aftermarket Oil Filters
George: One of my friends was a Hastings/Baldwin rep. For fun he would
use his filter cutter and we would compare various makes. Fram is the cheapest junk on the market. I also remember doing a weight comparison on Duramax filters. The Wix, Hastings and A/C were all similar. The Purolator and Fram were 40 % lighter. The can was just too thin. Not good on a diesel that hs very high oil pressure. There have been others reporting that the cans on their filters burst. I think it was on the 5.9 250 hp. I will get some Wix for the Cat and compare to the oem. Bruce 1988 FC35 |
