Aftermarket Oil Filters

Buy the Cat filter, oil and fuel.

The oil filter is a thicker steel, rolled at the top onto a die-cast
threaded-manifold, o-ring seal, quality stuff, and about $7/ea. if I
remember correctly. Buy a box and you'll be fine.

For fuel, Cat changed the fuel filter to the 2micron years ago so that
it is a polishing filter and the Racor can be a 10micron or 20micron,
not sure that the aftermarket ever made the same changes. I trust the
Cat parts, cheap compared to internal failure prices.

Fram used to have a good reputation, lots changed. Last I heard they
had the highest internal failure rate of major-brand filters.

Wix is good stuff, but they make high-line mid-line and value-line
filters, depends on who's name is on the box. The Goodwrench and Mobil-
1 (both Wix) are excellent filters for example.

Filters are cheap, failures aren't. OEM is almost always a good bet.
