GPS in a steel bodied MH
I have a Garmin Street Pilot 2610 which had the same problem till
I added a Garmin external antenna (GA-27C), purchased through amazon.com FOR $62. The antenna is held by suction cups to the base of inside windshield in front of dash, with enough wire to place unit anywhere on dash. I have been using this setup for over a year with good results. Without the external antenna I would loose satelite signal quite often as you are, now the accuracy gets down to 10-15' (7+ satelites).
