Tow Capacity for PT 35

My 1982 PT 40 5 speed 33:36 rear would get 5-6 mpg towing my 24' Performax race car trailer fully loaded with a 3400# Corvette drag car, numerous spare parts, golf cart, air compressor, generator. tools, etc. I raced all over the United States including Denver, Co. The accelration towing or not was not a lot different unless you were climbing a hill. The bus did struggle a little with a full load of fuel and water. I found that if you ran with a half a tank of fuel the bus handled the load better. The real issue seemed to be cooling. I ran with te aux fan switch on most of the time and the coach ran at about 190, but running the fan draws some horsepower. I don't believe that the cooling system is designed for that much of an additional load but it can be done. I drove the 82 about 100,000 miles mostly towing the trailer. On a PT 40 with a 24' trailer you are very close to 65' which I believe is the max legal length in some states. I believe there is an exemption in the length for an auto hauler. I carry a copy of this in my bus. I have never been stopped for this reason however. My 89 PT40 8V92 4 speed trans definitely has more power but is heavier than the 82. It also tows extremely well. Either coach will do the job. Be sure to not exceed combined GVW or hitch capicity. If you have any questions please feel free to email me directly at mmcmahan@... or call my cell 254-913-1176 Can a PT - 35' 6V92 tow a 10,000# trailer including contents?
