Electric Retarder Stopped Working and I think it may be a bad solenoid
The electric retarder on my 1984FC35 was working great and just quit.
I have a blue light on the dash switch but don't get any clicks when I move the control lever down. I am not getting any power to any of the terminals on the control lever box,I would think I should have power to one with the switch on. I got under the coach and cleaned the ground cables at the relay box,did not help. I did find if I pushed the #1 relay closed by hand it would cause a solenoid in the area over the windshield to click. This solenoid has power at the left and right large terminals and the small L.H. front post with the key on. It never has power at the small R.h. post or the two top posts,is this the problem? The troubleshooting chart in my owners handbook mentions a 6amp inline fuse but I could not locate the fuse, anyone know where it is? Also I just had the high pressue L.P. Gas regulator fail and after some searching found a replacement that fits right in with minor mods. If anyone needs info on this let me know. Jim Matus 84FC35 Rescue CA |
