New Tires
Tom according to the Detroit diesel factory manual that I have there
are two different thermostats that can be used in your 8V92, a 170 degrees F or a 180 degrees F, they should keep the coolant in the range of 170-187 or 180-197 degrees respectively. For the 170 degree thermostat the coolant range should be 170-187 degrees and for the 180 degree thermostat it should be 180-197 degrees. The maximum temperature of the coolant cannot exceed 210 degrees and the alarm should go off at 215. It appears that you are already exceeding these limits and I would have your thermostats replaced and radiator and water pump checked.
