Leroy Eckert Has Given Me WB40 Fever
James,
As you may know, Vintage Birds <http://www.vintagebirds.com> has year by year lists of changes. (e.g. post 1980 = air suspension; 1988 appears to be the first WB model). Click the link to "history" and you can open descriptions for each year from 1963 to present. For instance, 1995 appears to be the first year that they offered the DD Series 60 engine in the WB-42 (I have a diagonal aisle floor plan, hence WBDA.) In my case, I felt the Series 60 was an advantage (but not a critical point) so that was a 'plus' in my decision process in selecting my BB. When I was considering buying a used 'bird, I checked over this history listing to determine what features were important to me and what features weren't. It helped me narrow down my choices ... of course, some flexibility is also required. At some point, an opportunity for a particular coach may present itself that may make some compromise in your particular selection. Remember, too, that mechanical condition is more important than particular features or floor plan. I will say, having 470 hp to cross mountains was an important consideration to me -- as I expect to spend much of my time in the western half of the U.S. due to family commitments, etc. Pete Masterson aeonix1@...
