Actually air suspension was a mid-year change for the 1980 models.
By what I have been able to tell I believe that this change was around March or so of 1980. I have one of the first if not the prototype for air suspension and it was manufactured in March of 1980. Mine has a few differences in the system including a valve that no other units have plus I have had several ex-BB employees look at it who think that it may have been a working prototype for the air suspension....
