NAVAGATION G P S
I use the Garmin 2610 GPS unit. Place it on the dash by the windshield and it
works good, takes a minute to acquire the signal when first turned on but has not lost the signal when driving. There is a bean bag mount with a tacky bottom so the GPS does not slide across the dash when turning and it holds very well. It plugs into the power outlet and can be easily moved between vehicles. It is fairly easy to use with a little practice and the touch screen makes it easy to navigate thru the menus. It does have settings for the type of vehicle being driven, car, truck or bus. It "avoids" roads with known restrictions when the bus option is selected. It also recalculates the path when a turn is missed, displays the distance and time remaining to destination and recalculates the time remaining as you progress based on current speed. It could use more selections for known gas/food stops but there has always been plenty available. I have one installed in my Laptop that works well, but using the laptop on the Toad is unwieldy. The Magellan 360 looks like a good all-around device. Any use this unit and care to comment? Any comments on ANY unit? Thanks Jack Smith 1973FC31 SoCal [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] |
