Sticky tach 90SP36
Chuck,
I had the same problem. Unless your Tach is different than mine (Teleflex) it is not designed for repair. With nothing to lose I carefully removed the front bezel holding the glass by bending the edge where it had been crimped, removed the nuts on the connectors and took the works our. There was a wire and connector used to set the correct frequency for the pulse generator and the solder was broken. Since I wasn't going to change the adjustment I removed the wire and connector and bridged the correct contacts. It has worked fine ever since. I already had the dash out, fixing the tach took about four hours. You can get a replacement at a marine that handles equipment for diesel yachts. - Chuck Wheeler - 82 FC 31 SB Fort Worth, TX _____ From: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com [mailto:WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of williamcharrison Sent: Wednesday, August 30, 2006 9:15 AM To: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com Subject: [WanderlodgeForum] Sticky tach 90SP36 My tach will frequently jump from around 2000 to 1000 (with no significant change in real rpm). And will continue to move up and down following rpm changes until I tap on the class. What causes this and what are the remedies?
