Power steering fluid temperature
I've posted in the past about some power steering leaks I have. We drove to WY
this weekend to camp at Vidauwoo and I took my non-contact thermometer to check the PS fluid temperature. It was 228 degrees after driving 140 miles in about 70 degree air temperature. My Mercedes diesel cars PS fluid is about 150 degrees on a 95 degree summer day. So, the Bird is definitely running hot PS fluid. I believe the standard operating temperature of PS fluid is around 150 degrees from what I have read. I'm curious as to what other people are seeing since it looks like my return hose runs pretty close to the aftermarket turbo which might be pushing the temperatures up. A PS cooler may be a useful addition. Kerry 82 FC 35 Denver |
