BLUEBIRD MINI RALLY AT MAXTON, NC
Leroy, they are just that land speed records. East Coast Timing
Association. Many of the racers go to the salt flats. Many of these guys hold land speed records for their respective class of vehicles. A couple of forum members go to Maxton and have records for their vehicles. They race at a closed airport "Maxton NC" and on a closed runway. It is a timed race. If you have never seen a motorcycle run almost 260mph it is truly cool. The guys racing take it very seriously, I guess at over 200mph you should...bad things happen quick. We (the coaches) park in an area together and have tons of fun. We eat like kings (bagles and smoked salmon, compliments of some "northern" BlueBirds) and laugh like jesters. Actually it is a really fun event. NOT LIMITED TO BLUEBIRDS. Come one Come all. Not to mention the "other sites" the closed airport is used by the milatary as well. Last spring way after dark Blackhawks were doing touch and go's. Really neat, some say they were just cleaning the track off! Year before the "halo jumpers" were there. Great event if you can make it. Never know what you might see. ScottB 86FC35 "RUBY" 4SALE SC --- In WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com, "Leroy Eckert" > > I would love to come to this rally but cannot.
