89 8.0 onan diesel gen set, hard to start

This 3 cylinder likes the glow plugs. It may be easier to start
especially in cooler weather, From the generator compartment, Both
the start and glow plug switches can be used at the same time.
First warm the glow plugs, about 30 sec. then toggle the glow plug
switch as you try to start. The other three interior switches heat
the glow plugs in the "Off" position only.
If this does not work for you, there may be a defective glow plug.
