89 8.0 onan diesel gen set, hard to start
Well...

My paper brains (blue box) are located in my coach, and it's been a
while since I wore my Wanderlodge thinking cap.

The way I hear it, the three cylinder Kubota has a history of
starting a bit rough when cold, but it can always get started with a
little help from the glow plugs and priming.

With my start switch in 'stop', I get glow plugs and priming. You
might check if your glow plug circuit is being energized by putting
a voltmeter on it. It really sounds like a glow plug problem or
circuit to me.
