Inverter
Just my opinion Maury but this was what I was going to do if I still
had my 1982 FC35 which I sold. I believe the addition of a 3 stage
charger/inverter is one of the best upgrades you can do. But again in
my opinion you need to do it right. I was going to relocate the
charger/inverter a Heart 2500 to the passenger side front
compartment. That will give you the very best setup since the
batteries and charger/inverter are close together. Run 10/2 wire from
the main power panel in the rear closet to power the charger portion
and another 10/2 cable from the inverter to a sub panel located below
the main power panel. Then 4/0 cables from the charger to the
batteries. I connected all of the interior wall receptacles and the
microwave to the subpanel. To really get the most out of the
batteries, charger/inverter you need a link 1000 to monitor
everything concerning 12VDC in the coach. The Link 1000 will allow
you to monitor the voltage and current out of the alternator, monitor
the current and voltage out of the generator if its running, the
current draw from the batteries and the state of charge of the batteries.

To me that really gets rid of a lot of guessing. You can set the
parameters you wish for the batteries, when you want to the link 1000
to shut off at which point you still have enough batteries to start
the engine. Remember the generator battery is a stand alone system
and is your back up if everything else wont work. You can still start
the generator up and recharge the batteries so in less then a minute
you can start the engine.

Just a suggestion but in my mind how it should be done. I am sure
there are others that will have more ideas for you. Good luck
