Crazy Tachometer
Greetings from windy OC, CA,
For about the past 6 months or so, I've been having some problems with my dash tachometer on my '86 38PT (8V92). Most of the time it reads normally, but when it doesn't, the needle jumps all over the place, or pegs itself at the max. I've cut the wires at the sending unit (top of the motor just underneath the access plate under the rear bed), and soldered and taped 'em up, but the problem still exists. Could it be the sending unit? If so, is it a DD part or something I have to get from Teleflex (gauge maker), or from BB? How does the sending unit get removed? You forget how important a tach is only when it doesn't work any longer...it's hard to hear that 8V92 all the way back there! Thanks in advance... Kevin McKeown Yorba Linda, CA 1986 38' PT |
