[Gardner Yeaw]

I managed to get a new element (Screw-in type) with an adaptor for
4 bolt. I took out the old unit and it sure was blown. There was a
split in the tube and the element was sticking out about 6 inches.
Interestingly it wasn't broken.

Unfortunately, the adapter for the screw-in is too big for the
hole in the tank. It is designed so that the adapter case enters the
hole and the element screws into it. If they reversed the design so
the adapter was on the outside and the flat part fit against the
tank it would have been perfect. I tried to just reverse it, but it
is designed so you can't thread the element in from the wrong side.

I think I can find an element if I keep searching the local
hardware/plumbing supply stores. I can order one from Raritan, but
that's $34 plus shipping and I want it before the weekend, so
shipping is BIG bucks.
