Space Ship TV Antenna
Leroy, I just replaced my antenna with a new Wingard RS-1500. It is
omni-directional and according to the literature it is generally considered to be good for transmitters within a 35 mile radius of the antenna. I figure because I mounted it on the old mount and can raise it when we stop that it might even do a little better. Dish now uses a "spot beam" for local programming so my understanding is that you can no longer receive your home stations after you get out of your general coverage area. I don't know exactly how far that is. I hope that we can still pick up our local stations on dish in Florida. We have done it in the past, but I think that was before they went to the spot beam. I'm not sure what the problem was that caused them to change, but since you pay extra for local coverage it seems you should be able to get it anywhere. I presume that local stations somehow objected. I seem to remember that it was a legal issue. Other than that CRS wins. If so, any idea on range. I do not have any paperwork on it. I have all the latest stuff but had to use the space ship last night(1st time) after Dish Network shut off my remote local channel access due to a court squabble. Remote local in my case meaning CBS< NBC< FOX and ABC out of NY or LA my choice. Happened right in the middle of USC-UCLA waiting for the Florida game. I was in a remote area and was able to pick up one station clearly. Just happened to be CBS, Dothan AL. Since I now know the antenna actually works I may consider using it for local access instead of Dish in cases where I cannot hard wire to cable. Any history appreciated.
