cruise control
While playing with the cable on our FC I discovered that it affected all
except the 1-2 shift which is always at 2650rpm. I ended up setting it up like we used to set up the automobile transmissions before the computer days, about 1/8" slack at full throttle. With that setting it will up shift or lockup at 2650rpm and down shift at 2000. Under real light throttle, other than 1-2, it will up shift about 2200rpm and downshift about 1700rpm. If it is below 2000rpm and you apply more throttle it downshifts immediately. Working fresh transmission into the transmission really seemed to help performance also. - Chuck Wheeler - 82 FC 31 SB Fort Worth, TX _____ From: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com [mailto:WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com] On Behalf Of Doug Engel Sent: Monday, December 11, 2006 9:16 AM To: WanderlodgeForum@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [WanderlodgeForum] Re: CRUISE CONTROL Doesn't seem like it should, but it did on Pokey. When it was too long, it virtually skipped straight into 3&4 lockup, really lugged him down. Doug n' Pokey Jeff Miller Although the downsift Bowden cable will affect the shift points, I don't believe it will change the torque-converter lockup point. - Jeff Miller in Holland, MI --- In WanderlodgeForum@ yahoogroups.com, Doug Engel wrote: > > In theroy, if we are talking about the same thing, the longer it is, the faster the torque converter will go into lockup and the later you will get a downshift. The shorter you make it, the reverse should be true. I have mine shortened up somewhat to hold gears a little longer due to our mountianous terrain (read: lots of big hills that makes Pokey go real slow). Let me know how it works out. If we are talking about the same part, the slide arm is part of the transmission kick down/shift point system. If it has never been attatched, I can't see how your tranny could have been shifting correctly, so maye this is something else. > > > > Dan Darst > > > > dandarst86fc35rbhuntleyil. > > > > >From: "davidkerryedwards" > > >Reply-To: WanderlodgeForum@ yahoogroups.com > > >To: WanderlodgeForum@ yahoogroups.com > > >Subject: [WanderlodgeForum] Re: CRUISE CONTROL > > >Date: Sat, 09 Dec 2006 20:14:41 -0000 > > > > > >No way to test it without driving it to my knowledge.
