Jon,

The convenience of having a fuel efficient towed vehicle far
outweighs the loss of 1 mpg or so incurred in pulling it. Day trips
or even a trip to the grocery store are much easier than trying to
find suitable parking for a 'Bird. I still don't follow the logic of
towing a fifth wheel with an 8 mpg dually and then having to
shepherd a gas guzzler thru traffic just to score some grub. But,
I'm preaching to the choir here!

Most states don't require auxilliary brakes on trailers or towed
vehicles under 3,000#. Your state may be one of the few that has a
lower limit. Check with your insurance agent and your local DMV or
State Highway Patrol to verify your states requirements. Happy
