More on 'check engine' light
steve,

Many of us are, well, tinkerers. I had mnay problems with "codes"
some of the problems were real, it seemed that some were due to
connection problems with the harness which plugs into the unit on the
top of the engine...some of the wire/pins were loose and so somtimes
codes somtimes not??????
