Bruce,
I am personally bothered by your remark about corruption in the law enforcement
of the southern states. You make it sound as though it only happens in the
south. How niave can you be, corruption knows no bounderies or borders. I'm 62
years old and was a traveling salesman most of my working life. I have never
seen "your corruption in the south".

We have never, in over 18 years of travelling and living in Mexico,
paid a bribe. Most of the cops are really good. Like in the Southern
states some of the small towns have corrupt police. Some big cities are
bad as well: Tijuana, Mexico City. We try to follow the strange traffic
laws: cannot turn left on a main road that has a lateral. You must
enter the lateral and turn left from there. No heavy vehicles on the
road if there is a lateral. No jumping amber lights. Of course when
stopped we are polite, speak Spanish and stand our ground. So far so
good. Besides Mexicans love vehicles that are " Clasicos" Local cops
were in my shop/garage last week and drooled over the Bird. When we
went south in our Cortez, many years ago, the toll booth attendants
wanted to buy her! I will be thinking of all of you and your high
priced ULSD as we buy full strength loaded with Sulphur diesel for
$1.85!!
