Been there done that one. Glad all is ok. Check the grounds for the spedo problem. Open the drivers headlight compartment and see if the ground strap is corroded. The gen set. Open the slide and on the entry door side, under the manifold, there should be a fuel shut off solenoid, see if it is pulling in when trying to start, if not then check for 12 vdc on the wires going to it. If power is present then you have a bad solenoid. If no power, then suspect a relay in the control box. Just a place to start.
