power problem on 88 pt 40

I'm a newbie, but doesn't it sound like everybody can get completely off the
120V kick and concentrate entirely on 12V? Way back, someone mentioned the AT
switch, but I don't know if anyone has mentioned the main DC cutoff at the
batteries.
