Fuel gauge stuck on 1/2
Tom,
When I purchased my 89 WB the fuel gauge was stuck and the former owner indicated that it had been stuck for some time. I drove the coach back home to TX from AZ and kept up with the mileage so I would know when I was close to being empty. I put the stuck gauge on a list of things to correct in the future and set about fixing the items which had more priority (like new tires, for example). Within days, I was preparing for a trip from my home near Houston to Charleston, SC and I added a diesel fuel additive named "Power Service, Diesel Keen" when I filled up for the trip. To my pleasant surprise the gauge started working before I got to the SC state line. I continue to use the additive and the gauge has continued to accurately work ever since (one year last month). Don't know for dead certain, but I give credit to the additive for freeing up the sending unit. It would be worth your while to give it a try at <$12 to treat 300 gallons and the old Detroit seems to love it as well. (It's available at Walmart should you find yourself to be parked in their lot some weary night on the way from point A to point B.)
