Mystery of the "water in filter" alarm.

Mystery of the "water in filter" alarm.
Based on my experience on the older Birds, the "water in the fuel"
light is different than the "water in the filter" alarm. From my
experience with Stagecoach (1983 PT40), the water in the fuel light
(accompanied by a verbal warning about water in the fuel from the
Digitell system - kinda miss that device!) meant there was water in
the fuel tank sump that had reached the sensor in the sump. The water
in filter alarm meant the racor needed draining based on it's sump
sensor. FWIW......

drained about three gallons out the bottom of the fuel tank and found
no water, evidently a bad water detector. My tank is full [approx. 300
gals] so repair is impossible now.
