Instead of deleting the photo and/or resizing the photo with
software,
the forum moderator or the owner of the photo album can delete just
the full size version of the photo by opening open the photo and
select the "View: full size" option from the menu above the photo.
When the full-sized version opens, select the "Delete full size only"
link directly above the photo. This cuts the size of the photo to a
more manageable size - between 40 and 80k depending on the size of
the
original photo.

I go through the groups that I moderate every week or so to reduce
photo sized of members photo albums; most never notice the change.
