Andy, are you saying you didn't use your alternator
for 2 years? The regulator for an alternator is a small black pack that fits in the alternator. It's what I have heard termed as "self excited" meaning it doesn't neet a battery voltage for voltage or load control. Sounds like you Xantrex has failed you too somehow.
