One other comment. I have nothing against HD or Lowes because I shop there from
time to time. However, Home Depo University is not a University, it is a sales
tool. You got away unharmed this time. Beware, advise from the good folks in
the tile department is not necessarily gospel..
As always, trained pro's are your best source.

You are correct, and there are other ways to do the same thing.

Isn't it interesting that you most likely were told that hard surface Corian
will not scorch or scratch. That wasn't quite right was it? I like mother
natures product better.

When I got my Bird there was a scorch mark made from a lamp which over
heated on the end table of the couch. I went to Home Depot or Lowes
and was advised that the bleamish could be sanded out and polished.
The advice was right on. I used wet sand paper, starting with 600 grit
and finished with 1000. A buffing wheel and wax will add the finishing
touch. I suspect that for deep scratches you could start with 400 if
needed but I would always do it wet.
