propane fill

They seem to be inconsistent. The Flying J in North Platt does not open the
valve, Oklahoma City does, El Paso does not, and Eloy does. Last time I was
in North Platt a couple of weeks ago they said they would not fill the tank
because of it's age until it was inspected. Went on down the road and
filled it in Oklahoma City. Any one else run into this?

Hi Ernie,

The last few times that I stopped at the Flying Hook for LP,
they said that they no longer were opening the small valve to let
air escape as the tank gets filled. You should be able to go to any
propane dealer that fills tanks. They can purge (pull a vacuum) on
the tank and get most of the residual air removed. You could also do
it yourself if/when the tank is completely empty if you have access
to a machine that can evacuate an A/C system. You would just need to
get or make an adapter that would screw into the propane fill valve
to pull the vacuum.
