Fuel gauge trouble
Leroy. I'd leave it alone. Think about it, you're producing fuel, while you're
driving, maybe you can sell some off.(jk). If I were to take a guess, I'd say
the guage was wired backwards, sending the current, the wrong way. You'll have to
isolate the circut. You should be able to remove the wire, from the sender,(key
off), then turn the key on, and ground the wire. The guage should read full. If
it does, the guage is ok, the problem should be in the sending unit. If it
dosen't, I'd take another look at how that guage was wired. That's the way to
troubleshoot 99% of them, maybe Bluebird is different, so you may want to get a
second opinion. I tried to email you, but my message was returned, Good luck,
Jimmy

looks like but if it has a ground and one wire it sounds like the float might be
assembled upside down. Is it possible to assemble that way? Sounds crazy but I
have done that in a boat tank before.

Subject: [WanderlodgeForum] Fuel gauge trouble

Can anyone explain the resistor on the back side of the fuel gauge?.
My fuel gauge was relaaced along with the sending unit in the tank. Since that
time the gauge
reads backwards and very inaccurate. I have triple checked the wires, ground,
ignition,and
sending unit, checked the ignition for power it was ok, the ground was good. I
even ran an
external wire to the tank with the sending unit pulled out and operated outside
of the tank
the guage shows full when float is full down. When lifted it goes to empty, I
noticed there was
continunity amongst all of the connectors, I removed the resistor and for some
reason the
guage now reads 1/2 which is close as measured off of a yard stick.
Any of your vast knowledge would be appreciated to help me fix this Pain,
Thanks

John
